The “Navy Seals” roll into town from England a group of four they are. Two experienced fly anglers who have traveled all over the world in search of new fishing experiences, accompanied by two young whipper snappers, who enjoy “taking the piss out of each other all day long”, including the guides. If you are not familiar with my lingo it means teasing each other. After a week of hooking and landing 300 Salmon they are of course experienced fishermen with a desire to return. These boys are now taking a step up to the next level. The Kitimat River peaks for Salmon in August and anglers are rewarded with a fish a cast. Weather conditions have been very impressive, touching the mid 30’s on the Centigrade scale.

As I spent most of my time with the mature males we had our days of fun as the Chinooks were giving us a real charge and bending some graphite. I remember Harry telling me that him and Ken will be fishing in Scotland this fall and will possibly hook a fish a day. He laughs as he is into another sizeable Salmon on the fly. Man are we spoiled, I think to myself as I take some shade, near the gin clear creek flowing into the mainstem river. The spray off the rocks vaporizes as it nears my face, ahh! What a feeling and the smell is incredible, so fresh, so clean. I can hear the fellas, Paul and Simon in the pool below verbally jousting as they are into a double header, again. How it makes real men feel when they are fishing (catching), the child is brought out in each one of us, again and again.

Attached is a small flavor of Chinook salmon our kind gents were rewarded during a trip to Chinook Heaven, BC.
