Kings Of Skeena Country Report
Our Chinook season has come to an exciting end and our clients from around the globe were into fish of a lifetime. Attached is a pic of a 68lb Skeena Chinook. The fellas from Spain had a real blast with this monster. Like all fish stories this one is a doozy. We fished our day on the Skeena and with other anglers at the boat launch I had a short conversation with a local Skeena angler called Mike. He told me they hooked some big fish and landed a nice one. I thought nothing of it and walked to the truck to retrieve the jetboat and the boys from Spain. Once the boat was trailered I was looking for the fellas and there they were eyes wide-open and hanging there heads into the boat of Mikes. I walked over and this massive Chinook was strewn across the entire back of Mike’s boat. The Spanish boys were talking so fast I thought I was at an auction sale. To say the least I was quite excited myself. Mike thought nothing of it and said it’s a nice one, I have had bigger. Comments like this are what make my life as a Skeena guide so exciting. This tells me the Skeena produces many fish in the 50lb range and is considered an average fish for the local Skeena angler; I had to snicker when Mike made his relaxed comments. Also attached is a pic of Cesar with a respectable fly caught Chinook.
Our repeat clients from England again had an excellent time in Skeena country. Attached are pics of the foursome with a sample of fresh Chinook. Having the fella’s join us made for some great laughs and the week went by so fast, with a memory that will last a lifetime. From Harry’s mischievous manner, to Kens English humor, to Paul’s Jig master action, and finally Simons positive attitude, the dirty, filthy….. The Skeena is fishing very well these days and the Kitimat system is getting a run of fall Coho. The next report will be arriving soon with the action of fresh Steelhead added. The report I will have no choice to call but “The Point”.
