Kitimat fresh and saltwater
 |
What a big Tyee this bruiser is. It took Ian a good 20 minutes to land this fellas as well a ¼ mile run downstream to finally get his hands on this big buck Chinook. A Tyee is considered to be over 40lbs. This fish was well beyond that. After a few digital photos we released this monster back into the green waters of the Kitimat River. Ian was using a pink and white spinning glow with a pink hoochie. His partner Alastair hooked and landed a nice jack spring in this pool as well. Alastair hit for the grand slam this week with a Chum, Pink and Chinook salmon. Sights on the river this week were a family of Otters who curiously watched us from shore as we drifted by, poking their heads up and down above the tall grass.
The saltwater action is now in full stream as the Salmon are in the harbor. Our day charters are very busy and the crabbing is excellent. The Moonens were with us for a day of Halibut fishing and landed a nice 40lber as well a fresh feed of crab while on the ocean. They also landed a large Skate as well. Sights on the ocean were pods of Dolphins as well a Black Bear wandering the coastal shoreline. Hot trolling lures are Coyote Spoons in Silver and Wonder bread.
