Kitimat River Fishing Report

The rod takes an aggressive pull while in the holder it is unmistakeably that a Chinook salmon is on the other end, the angler struggles in a frenzy to get control of the wild Chinook that has just climbed onto a Magnum Hot Shot. Yes, this is the start of the King of Salmon lurking in the emerald green waters of the Kitimat valley. Our latest guests arrived this week and Frazer called the one pool “the hog trough”, for good reason. Having hooked into two fish in the 40 pound range, having them full breach in a desperate maneuver to elude the angler who is having the fight of his life. The hog trough was holding a very fresh run of early Chinooks and the fellas were into allot of action, in fact we hooked into 10 fish that day! Things have come into full swing as the past two days have proved to be very successful, 18 fish all Chinooks falling to the offering of a colorful artificial lure, or a crank bait as some like to call them. Attached is a small taste of the latest fish we landed, tight lines.
