Kitimat River Report
The Springs are running early this year as again the river is in perfect condition. The emerald green glacier water flowing into the Kitimat arm is alive with fresh fish and the ever-lurking seal, which is after a fresh meal. The drift boats are ready and loaded for our Chinook river extravaganza. We will be targeting these beasts with the ever popular, “Pullin Plugs method”. This gives our guests the no hassle way to spend a day on the quiet river enjoying the scenery awaiting the aggressive pull of a Chinook Salmon.
Our Saltwater trips and eco-adventures are beginning as fresh fish are stacked up at the mouth of the river, making for a great day on the salt chuck. Also fresh crabs are on the menu.
We have been expanding our fishing adventures and now offer trips to view wild Grizzly bears in the world-class valley of the Kutzamateen. As well view Sea Loins, Whales, and visit sacred Indian sites, filled with the history of our country and province. For readers of fishing magazines check out the latest issue of STS, Salmon Trout Steelheader, as the article is called, “The Kings Of The Kitimat”. In this article is an armchair fisherman’s dream becoming a reality, with many color photos and excellent text all about the Salmon fishing in the BC north coast.
For our fly anglers, yes the rafts are ready and the fly water is prime. Rio sink tips in type 6 and 8 are recommended, as this is our perfect depth to attain a great swing for a fresh King on the fly. I have attached my latest Chinook fly, simply called, “Black and Blue”. Strong hooks are to be used if you tie your own or order ahead and we will make sure you get your dozen-variety pack for Salmon and Steelhead.
As well attached is our latest pic of a fresh King. This was quite a battle and we had to chase this beast down river to land him, what a great fish and what a pull these King of the Salmon produce.
Last minute bookings are still available so enquire and we will try to accommodate you, tight lines.
