“It looks like a big one! Marcus and I both say as Troy is hooked deep into his second Steelhead of the late morning. His rod is bent in half; this is a big fish, his 10wt fly rod getting a working over, as the reel is screaming for more backing. A tug of war continues for another 15 minutes and finally a netted wild Steelhead is smothered in kisses and smiles. As some guests leave and new ones arrive days change and so does the fishing.

High water conditions and warm/hot day temperatures into the 25C range has brought us fly fishing that is at times unbearable. Dirty and brown water has been the trouble as lodge guests are playing No Limit Hold-em to have some fun.

The creeks are flowing a steady volume of clean water. This has made us very happy as our finest day this week we landed five nice steelhead on the fly, one 17lber attached to this report as well Troy busted his 15lb. monofilament on a larger Steelhead after a long fought battle and a burst of explosive tail walking before heading down the rapids and snapping off. Troy brought with him a custom 10wt. Sage he wanted to try out on our BC Steelhead and rewarded he was. Three fish hooked, two beautiful Steelhead landed.

Our latest guests arrived today, May 1st, Meredith (Judith) from New York City, as well our pair of Englishmen.

Today on the water we had some exciting events as Stephen hooked a nice Steelhead and after a few hard pulls on the fly rod unfortunately the knot at the fly broke off, he had to have a extra beer at supper to calm his nerves for tomorrow. His partner Malcolm, while Spey casting noticed a large Steelhead swim by him close enough to touch with his rod tip. He watched as this large male pushed himself easily through the fast flowing, clear water.

Our fishing forecast has improved immensely as rivers have dropped many feet and primetime is upon us. Cloudy conditions as well some rain is forecasted. Attached is Troy’s friend Marcus, repeat clients from the USA, with a beautiful spring caught hen on the fly, tight lines.
