Kalum/Kitimat River Report
This weeks guests all repeats fished the Upper Kalum and Kitimat Rivers.
With water temperatures dropping below 40F to 39F we saw a decrease in
Steelhead activity. As the days go by the Kitimat River is getting a nice
push of fresh fish. Local anglers are seeing Steelhead teeming in the
shallow riffles on the lower stretches near the tidal line, this will make
for peak season in the next few weeks.
Attached are a few pics of angler Troy Hittel from Whitecourt Alberta with
his very first Steelhead. He hooked into two fish that day and landed this
nice buck, a respectable 10lber.
Next week our guests from Swift Current Saskatchewan as well our threesome
from northern Alberta will be with us for some hot Steelhead action.
Our hottest flies have been Leech patterns as well as various hairwing
patterns, in blue and purple, tight lines.
