Chinook Report Kitimat River, BC Canada

“Its way out there and I can’t get any line back”, is all Carey had to say and we lifted anchor and the chase was on. I thought the fish was lost as it hunkered down beneath a logjam some 150yrs below. This thing was a fighter. I had Carey put the brakes on this fish early into the battle and all it did was make this nookie go crazy and burn the skin on Carey’s thumb when it screamed downstream. It peeled most of the line off the reel and things were getting sketchy. We had no choice but to take this fish down near the fast tailout and into a landmine of snags and old stumps. Finally this story ended with the happy fisher and his prize in hand.

All excitement was to continue as this kissing, Happy Anniversary couple put the tag team to this 40lb Chinook. Shelley hit this fish in a soft flowing side channel and it took her down to the 3rd pool with a handoff from the husband to finally get this monster King to surrender. Shelley said it perfect as it came to the net numerous times,” I will outlast you!” as her teeth clenched and her eyes glared at the dark shadow beneath her.

Not to be taken lightly attached are pics of Dave and his Daughter in Law Tara. As you can see these fish are fresh from the sea.

Things are picking up this week and the rivers are filling with fish. Our arrivals this week are from Austria, Calgary, USA and Germany.
