Steelhead report: The Irish Invasion

When the plane touched down in Terrace BC out front of the airport stood four gentlemen, fishermen for sure, the other pair still grabbing bags. Conn was the first to shake my hand, after 5yrs of emails we sensed each other almost immediately. His Kerryman look and warm demeanor said it all, these guys were glad to be here!

Spending the day’s with a different pair of anglers made for some great laughs. Pete, don’t give up on the dangle. Attached are some of the photos of the trip and the Steelhead that were digitized during the Jameson brothers adventure.

On an aside, Dave Benson flew from South Africa to join his son from London for a week of flyfishing as well catching up on old times. Dave spent his last trip with us a few years ago and hooked some nice Steelhead, unable to get the net and fish to cooperate. This year I remember the cell phone call my Assistant Guide Steve B. Heh Tracey, we had a fish and he got off on shore, there was no net in the boat! That day he was guiding Dave and James. Then the cell rang again, Tracey! We need a net as they hooked another and got it to the bank and it snapped the line. Another cell call, the third in an hour, Tracey! 15lb test is not enough as we just lost another fish. These are the calls I love to hear; unfortunately it was poor old Dave who was the victim of 3 solid Steelhead without a picture. A great week for sure as water temperatures climbed to the 40F mark.
