Skeena Steelhead report April 7-14th 2007
Brrrr! Cold again, when is it going to get warmer as I put on my second pair of gloves for the day, the others either soaked from the pounding rain or freezing snow.
Water temperatures are ranging from 36.5F to 39.6F with some action on the fly with the always-entertaining Bull Trout. Guest Gordon from Kootenay Fly Shop smacked into a large male Steelhead only having it snap his line at the net.
With some help from the Italian Spin Fishing Club we were rewarded with a great day of some nice Steelhead. The Steelhead are aggressively taking the spoons as these master casters put on a display like non-other. In Italy spin fishermen are purest fishers, like we would consider a dry fly only angler as a purest. We had a great trip and attached are some of the Steelhead the fellas digitized.
See you next week as weather conditions are suppose to be below zero and the river rising but still very clean, tight lines.
