Steelhead Report in Skeena BC Canada
With many emails filtering in awaiting the latest reports, we have been on the water the last 45 days so I will be reporting in bunches as I am downloading the pictures and dreaming the reports of the exciting times we have had this season. The Chinook Salmon are arriving in small numbers but the ones we hooked were doozies. Giving you an idea of the last month’s action here is the mid April report.
Attached is Hunter, the California tennis pro, doing his Steelhead air guitar impression. This 20lb Buck was a battle as Hunter fought this monster for a good 20 minutes taking him upriver into his backing then back down into the tail-out for a tug of war that ended in the net. Attached are a few of the many Steelhead landed this week, the rest of the pics will be in the Steelhead gallery on the web.
Joining Hunter was repeat client Paul with a pair of respectable 36-38 inch Steelhead he took on his new Spey rod. Paul is no stranger to Skeena country and while drifting the rivers many pools, Paul’s tells stories of the historic memories each pool has given him. While with us he has named one of best pools the “Mink Pool” which will be a winner for years to come. Named because the day we landed a few nice Steelhead a Mink playfully maneuvered himself onto a overhanging log, dipped his head in the water and came out with a small fish and off he went.
River conditions have been fine with water temperatures touching the 39F mark. Also, Gord, Bob, Serge, Alexi, Ed, Thurm, Dave, James, and Martin please send your pics of the trip and see you next year.
