Purple Fat Bastard

This fly is called the Purple Fat Bastard and a very popular Steelhead and Salmon fly.

Hook: I used a size 6 Mustad R70 turned down eye hook in a 2x heavy as it is a very strong hook. This fly can be tied in a size 2/0 as well.

Thread: 6/0 Black Tail: Purple Marabou stripped from the side of the feather making sure the tips are equal length. Once tied in I run the thread behind the tail to make it stand somewhat up.

Body: Purple cactus chenille or diamond dubbing then palmer a black hackle stripped on one side and tie in at the tip. Leave enough room for a head.

Head: Salmon chenille or a dubbed orange/red head.
